It has been a while right?! To say shit's been crazy lately is an understatement. One that I'm not complaining about because let's face it, I'd rather have a million and one things to do than be one of those peeps on FB with a status that reads "I'm bored".

 I'm so excited to share with you a beautiful wedding I had the honor of attending just last week! (I can't believe this post is actually coming to you so soon. I am THE WORST at blogging in real time, haha). My cousin/sis Hermione and her beau Saia finally walked down the aisle and said I do and here are some of the moments I managed to capture on my little point and shoot. The wedding was held at the beautiful All Saints Woodville Church just outside of Maitland, NSW. There was a wonderfully, rustic reception space located next to the church and the entire venue was surrounded with lush green paddocks.

The day was super busy (as they always are). My sisters and I were up nice and early to style the hair of the beauties that made up the Bridal Party (Flower girls included)! That was fun! My sister and I traveled from VIC for the day and so couldn't bring hair supplies with us. Challenge accepted...
Cue creative and improvisation skills and we got all that hair done literally using two combs, clothes pegs for holding parts during the styling process, Paw Paw ointment (in place of hair wax), ten tonnes of hair spray and a gazillion bobby pins. IT WAS THE BEST! It actually wasn't that difficult because we had wonderful canvases to work with, our sissaaaaaays are shmexxxxy! ;)

To Hermi & Saia,

It was truly an honor to witness the two of you unify your lives. Thank you for the privilege. I hope you remember always, the special moments and feelings you shared on this day as you jump into the crazy/fun journey of marriage and brave the inevitable challenges life will throw at you.

On another note...

Here's what I wore:

I kept this outfit SUPER simple because I knew we would have limited time to get ready for the wedding after beautifying the Bridal Party. So I let the dress do all the work and topped it off with a few subtle accessories in silver and a lip colour that pops.

• Floral dress- Purchased this for $6 while thrifting in Brooklyn, NYC earlier this year.
• Wedge heels- Target $22, last season.
• Silver plait necklace- This was actually a feature piece attached to a top I found thrifting. The top cost $2 so I grabbed it and cut this awesome necklace off it.
• Lipstick- borrowed this beautiful colour from the sister. It is Rimmel #120- Cutting Edge purchased from Kmart for $11 I think.

Aussie Curves: LBD...

Hi AC babes!

LBD. I am yet to meet a woman who loathes the LBD. I am not an exception here. I have a little black dress that I wear under EVERYTHING. To say it's my staple is an understatement. My sister and I grabbed two each on our first trip to NYC from H&M's basics range in 2011. We saw it and didn't have any hesitations and in fact had to stop ourselves from buying 5 each lol. It is a soft stretch, cotton baby doll style dress that drops and flows from under the bust and stops above the knees. Perfect for me because I don't usually like to accentuate my middle area and love to leave my legs free.

Since purchasing this dress I've worn it a gazillion times! Here's how I wore it today...

Denim button down shirt $3, thrifted/H&M basics LBD circa 2011/ FOREVER21 neon scarf this season $8/Black hightop creeper style sneakers $20 Payhalf, Harlem/ Reflector aviators $8 Valleygirl this season.

Aussie Curves: Celebrate in Boracay!

Hi lovely ones! CELEBRATE! Love the new theme! I am also LOVING all the new Aussie Curvettes joining in on the fun!

Here are some pics from one of the most AHHHHHH-mazing weddings I have ever been to. It was held earlier this year in March on the beautiful island of Boracay in the Philippines! Now when first outfit planning in my mind I had picked out to wear this glorious, thrifted chiffon maxi skirt. Closer to packing date I was like "who am I kidding...I'll be sweating my chops off!" lol. so I went with this colour bomb mini dress from City Chic I purchased on sale circa 2011. It totally fit the bill of being cool (temperature wise), colourful and fun...perfect for a beach wedding! I love that this dress has subtle draping sleeves and the length is a winner for me too!

But enough of that, I must gush about the sheer beauty of this union between two against THE MOST breathtaking view. I kept looking around telling myself to take every bit in and memorise it...to remember that I had the honour of attending this magnificent event, one of those "once in a lifetime" times. Mint. Now let me tell you...when I say it was hot, I mean...it. was. hot. My whole body glistened with moisture. Wiping my skin dry did nothing but make a fresh space for more moisture. Amidst the humidity, waterfall (sweat) and my useless attempt to keep cool with my $2 fan I picked up at the local D-Mall I witnessed teenage sweethearts now all grown up exchange the most heart warming and real vows and make a pact to stick it out through thick and thin for the rest of their days. sigh. Aussie Curves: Swim wear!

Swim wear week! So I have these pics from my Summer spent at home but before I continue with that I'm gonna go ahead and share with you a little bit more about me and how I don't ever wear swim wear. I grew up on the South Coast of NSW in two places: a town called Nowra (where I lived with my family) and a tiny Aboriginal mission 30 mins from Nowra called Wreck Bay (where my Aunty & Uncle, my second set of parents lived). My afternoons after school, weekends and holidays were all spent at the beach at Wreck Bay.

Hours and hours and hours of my childhood were spent at the beach and I was NEVER in a swim suit. Oh wait I got a pair of swimmers when I was in like year 6. They were red with a white hibiscus on the front and I never wore them because I was horrified at that age of how my chubby body looked in them (poor 11 year old me, haha). Also one Christmas, I would have been about 8, my sister and cousins got the COOLEST "worry dolls" for presents off my big sister. I eagerly unwrapped my present and my dream coming true of worry dolls crumbled before my eyes as I stared at what I thought was the fugliest pair of black and white polka-dot swimmers I had EVER laid eyes on.

 Now, not that these were like "pivotal moments" that I remember that led to me never wearing swim wear but its just a bit of an indicator of me and my lack of need/want for bathers. Now that I actually AM thinking of it I'm pretty certain the fact that our home beach is so un-populated by tourists and usually just sees the local community is the reason why the need to get "dressed up" for the beach has never been great. Hmmm anyway...my usual staple clothes for swimming are short tights, a paleu or sarong, bra and singlet oh and of course a t-shirt to cover up because Lord knows I burn. LOL. This day however was an exception.

 It was New Years Day 2013 and the sisters and I decided the night before that we would have fun and party with the family but what we wouldn't do was get trashed and then sleep/be hungover and feeling gross for the dawn of another new year. So with 3 hours sleep we woke at 6am for the hike to just one of the beautiful secluded beaches in our back yard. I hadn't planned on swimming because it was cold and I was subconsciously being a Boring Betty haha, but the closer we got the higher the sun got and it was waaaaaay to perfect to pass up. Hence me swimming in my sports bras and a sarong my sis packed as a "just in case...".

Maybe one day I'll buy a pair...I've always wanted a pair of vintage/50's or 60's styled swimmers. They are the most beautiful in my opinion! What styles do you prefer?
