Aussie Curves: PURPLE!

Hello beautiful Aussie Curves readers!

Purple week is here...WOOHOO! I love purple! One of my favvvvve colours to wear, always has been! I have been so busy with travelling home after the Summer holidays, unpacking our lives and getting straight back into preparing for the new teaching year that I have had no time to take any OOTD shots on the good camera (I have managed to get a few on my Samsung Galaxy!).It is definitely not a first choice of mine to use outfit shots from my phone on my blog which is why I have once again dug up some photos from my US trip last June/July to share with you...that and the fact that I just love reliving my USA life LOL. (I need to go back immediately ) Ehh ANYWAY, here is what I wore to the most anticipated night of my life for the whole of 2012...CELINE DION IN CONCERT IN VEGAS!!!!

People laugh at me when I say how much I love Celine because apparrrrrrently she's "old" and for "old people" but WHATEVZ...I will fly my Celine flag high until forever because I truly believe she is the GREATEST voice of our time! There was always a top 3 for me Mariah, Whitney & Celine. Whitney's gone *tear*, Mariah's voice fell down a well & never came back so Celine is the last (wo)man standing with her timeless voice, beauty & Grace. So yeah...I love Celine, LOL.

Purple floral shirt/jacket- thrifted, Salvo's $3/  Fluro high-neck shirt, thrifted (Millers) Vinnie's $6/ Ruffle skirt, City Chic $20/ Wedge boots, Rivers $20/ Tan handbag, Equip $15.

Love this sparkle number sister thrifted from one of our favourite local opshops Mickey & Mallory.

I seriously love Ruth's dress she picked up in Forever21 in NYC paired with her blue suede pumps.

Totally clowning with our "sing like Celine" faces. LOL.

Aussie Curves: Pastels!

 

 

Hello wonderful Aussie Curves ladies and passers by! Far out, another week has past and apparently there are only something like (according to Sunrise) 47 shopping days left til Christmas?! WTFudge?! haha. Anywho, welcome to pastels week! I get to share my photos from the night my ear balls and eye balls were blessed by the awesomeness of Lady Antebellum!! This is like one of the 3 pastel items in my closet (I am seriously lacking...). I find myself pastel-ing most of the time to church but here is my mint collared number from Lily & Lou that I wore all the way from West Sydney to the Opera House! LOL. Aussie Curves: Blue Bayou OOTN :)

This is a quick one lovlies due to my ridiculously busy past two weeks aswell as the week I'm in right now!

I wore this "blurple" (blue/purple...yes I may have just made that up haha) blazer type jacket out on our last night in Manhattan! This jacket was actually a long button down dress that just didn't fit so I cropped and hemmed it, turning it into a jacket. I had to do something to it when it wouldn't fit the way it was created because I loved the colour and shoulder detailing on it so MUCH! :)

  paried this with this black, loose-peplum type top from the H&M basics range and a black and white striped tube skirt from K-Mart (last season). For the shoes I wore my SUPER comfy slipper-esqe feeling wedge boots that I found from Rivers on sale for $20 (to all my ladies size 11/12 that find it hard to find comfy shoes, HIT UP RIVERS! Not always my style but every now and then something will pop up that I love!) lol. I wore these because of the comfort factor. I luuuuuuuuuuuuurve to dance when I go out so I must ensure that my feet can handle a long night of stomping! haha :)

Blue being the topic this week had my music minded brain swirling with all the songs that have blue in it or a blue theme...if you havn't heard this beauuuuutiful song by Aussie Adrian Hood check it out! It's called Brown eyed blues :) It was released as part of the soundtrack to a movie in the US called "Daddy's Little Girls" directed by none other than the uuuh-mazing Tyler Perry.

"I know another bee's been in that honey..."

So to keep the ball rolling on this blogging thing (to try as best as I can to keep one of my only New Years resolutions) imma go ahead and share some pics from the Lloyd concert my sisters and I went to the other night in Newtown, Sydney. To back pedal a lil I just have to mention that this event is a part of our wish to keep life a constant adventure hence why we are on the move as much as our time and money will allow :)

It's the best when things just happen to work out or are planned in the very last possible minute and this trip to Sydney was no exception. The show began at a bit of a 7 on a scale of 1-10 with silly DJ's who can't do their job's properly (repeating songs already played), supporting acts including one that resembled a B grade Ricky Martin and a gammin host who loved the mic too much and just kept tryna plug The Game's concert which is to be held in the same venue next month. 7pm, 8pm, 9pm...still no Lloyd with only one supporting act that was worth our time there...cue the abusive heckling from the audience (mainly coming from me and my sissys...LOL.) 10pm...STILL no Lloyd. FINALLY at 10:45pm Lloyd decides enough abuse has been yelled at the stage and arrives. Lucky he was the BOMB otherwise I think my shoe would have went flying at his head!! Man his voice is dope, he cut it up and to top it all off and officially make our night boss, he ripped off his sweaty t-shirt as "lay your head, on my pillow" smashed out over the crowd and threw it in our vicinity...cue the semi-brawl that ended with my Jadey and this tall but viciously-hungry-for-the-t-shirt-lady scuffling over the t-shirt.

 Amidst the struggle I ask Jadey if we should just let the crazy lady have it since she was a bit loco for the shirt, Jd looks at me like "are you kidding" and says NAH...with that I activate all my super power strength and deliver the final blow that secured us the t-shirt!!! Poor lady hung her head in shame and walked away.

To cap our night we found this cool lil kebab & burger place still open coz we were starvinggg/thirsty by then, merrily ate and recapped/re-enacted the nights highlights.

i LOVE my sisters because no matter what we're doing, we always make it fun!:)

January 20, 2012 so sadly now marks the passing of one of music's most legendary pioneers of Soul, Rock and Roll and R'n'B. She was the epitome of soul, grit and truth in its purest musical form. She was Etta James. A voice that inspired me from a young age and sparked a re surge to be greater vocally, in my not too distant past. I love the honesty, cheek and rebel qualities her voice so effortlessly possess and am so sad to know that she is with us no more. Having said that, I am abundantly grateful that my ears have been blessed with her voice. Rest in love Jamesetta Hawkins.

One in a Million; More than a woman ♥

10 years ago today my sister and I cried tears of genuine sorrow at the loss of another songbird. Aaliyah was truly the light of our life. We loved EVERYTHING about her. Not only did she have a voice as smooth as silk sheets and a beauty like no other, she had a bangin' style (the only girl who could really rock a bandana) and a demeanor that inspired us to be better in every way. A goal in life in my teenage, high school years was to have bangs just like Aaliyah and I can't even count the hours I sat at my computer, earphones in, singing songs of hers- matching every note and  studying every run. So when we got home from a day out and our mum told us "the girl you love died" (yep, that's how we heard the news) there was silence and then sorrow. I remember it like it happened yesterday. We rang our sister/cousins in Sydney (who loved her just as much as we did) to share the news. "Fear of flying" by Mya coincidentally played through our computer speakers and together we cried. How fast 10 years have passed. We still blaze her songs like she never left and still to this day wonder how she would have blown up the music industry with the tracks she was yet to record.

Amy Winehouse. True music maker of our time. How sad I was to wake up on Sunday morning hearing my sister on the phone to one of our best friends and have her tell me that Amy Winehouse had died. I have never met the woman yet I cried. Its a weird thing when you think about crying in sadness over someone you've never met but just listening to her music makes me feel like I did. She sang with such  grittyness and honesty that trancended and sometimes offended the mainstream tokenism of today's music industry. I love that she brought back the sound of real music when synthesized pop was ruling the charts. She sang with soul and her whole heart and I am so sad that the world will no longer hear the gutsy beauty of her voice in songs she was yet to sing.

Ain't No Way....

Tonight I updated my Glee life. Besides the new episode being complete crack-up material it gave me a "tear moment". I LOVE when this happens...a song that can just have me in such awe that it brings tears to my eyeballs, LOL. Well the song is by none other than the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin & the song (which I am ashamed to say I hadn't heard until now) is called "Ain't no way". I think both versions are beautiful and here I give you the original and the cover sung by Amber Riley who plays Mercedes on Glee! As I post these clips this evening I just leave you with a youtube comment I found under the Aretha clip that encapsulates just how I feel about this song right now:
