One in a Million; More than a woman ♥

10 years ago today my sister and I cried tears of genuine sorrow at the loss of another songbird. Aaliyah was truly the light of our life. We loved EVERYTHING about her. Not only did she have a voice as smooth as silk sheets and a beauty like no other, she had a bangin' style (the only girl who could really rock a bandana) and a demeanor that inspired us to be better in every way. A goal in life in my teenage, high school years was to have bangs just like Aaliyah and I can't even count the hours I sat at my computer, earphones in, singing songs of hers- matching every note and  studying every run. So when we got home from a day out and our mum told us "the girl you love died" (yep, that's how we heard the news) there was silence and then sorrow. I remember it like it happened yesterday. We rang our sister/cousins in Sydney (who loved her just as much as we did) to share the news. "Fear of flying" by Mya coincidentally played through our computer speakers and together we cried. How fast 10 years have passed. We still blaze her songs like she never left and still to this day wonder how she would have blown up the music industry with the tracks she was yet to record.

Amy Winehouse. True music maker of our time. How sad I was to wake up on Sunday morning hearing my sister on the phone to one of our best friends and have her tell me that Amy Winehouse had died. I have never met the woman yet I cried. Its a weird thing when you think about crying in sadness over someone you've never met but just listening to her music makes me feel like I did. She sang with such  grittyness and honesty that trancended and sometimes offended the mainstream tokenism of today's music industry. I love that she brought back the sound of real music when synthesized pop was ruling the charts. She sang with soul and her whole heart and I am so sad that the world will no longer hear the gutsy beauty of her voice in songs she was yet to sing.

Today was a great day because TODAY there was a package in the mail just for ME!! :) I love getting mail that's legit stuff and not bills or crappy advertisments. The package was from my sister and she's so wonderful and bought me real & beautiful pearls from her trip to Broome not long ago. As well as the beautiful pearls I got:

- a black mini dress with sheer sleeves

- floral high waisted skirt

- and a letter from my sister! ( I loveeee letters and the effort it takes to write them and getting to read words that someones written down just for you !!)

I love my new stuff so THANK YOU sis! Now, what else? Oh yes today me and a few of my college loves went to lunch and then a movie. We saw "Something Borrowed" the new Kate Hudson and Ginnifer Goodwin movie. Good romantic comedy kinda stuff. Onto more EXCITING news I recieved the itinery today for the Art History tour I am going on in June! Chicago, NYC then California....I couldn't be more excited, my passport is on its way and all the travel details are being finalised and my dream of seeing a Broadway Show will be realized in a mere 7 WEEEEEEEKS!!!

Today is my sisters birthday. I LOVE my sister. My sister is beautiful, thoughtful, generous, fresh, creative, kind and oh so frikkin cool! My sister is also tough, strong willed & opinionated. My sister packs one hell of a right hook and also therefore can be danderous at times. I LOVE my sister.

Happy Birthday my "Practical Magic" partner in crime. You know me better than anyone, my accomplice, business partner and friend in everything I do and although I don't say it much, SHIT...I LOVE YOU!

So yeah...didn't really know I had such powerful poetry ability but as you've seen above I'm pretty much a heavy-weight champ *dusts my shoulders like a cool dude* LOL. But in all seriousness I do love my sister and when my mind randomly stumbles past all that we've lived through so far I kinda feel sorry for anyone who's never known the love, loyalty, friendship, beauty and security in a sister and I also think of how coming to college has blessed me with so many other sisters. We do not share the same blood but we share a love, understanding and humour which binds almost as tightly!

TO MY SIS CJY: I hope that even though you are in the middle of the Western Desert at this moment in time, you're happy and most importantly healthy! Chicago, NYC & Cali await and I am so EXCITED that I get to share it with you and our other fiah-crackurr sistur Emma! :)

So today it was revealed to the world that Osama Bin Laden is no longer with us earth dwellers. If you don't know who this is I just have one question..."where the HELL have you been for the past 9 or 10 years bro?!!" But anyways heres a lil background knowlege on Uncle Osama.

hmmm yes...not someone you'd invite to your sleepover. but on more FUN news, Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon popped out Taurian Twins today (or could have been yesterday lol) !!!

According to defamer.com.au -Glitter star Mariah Carey gave birth to twins—a girl and a boy—on Saturday, her fourth wedding anniversary with her husband, the guy from All That. Neither child has yet been named. Like most expecting parents, the couple drove to the hospital in their Rolls-Royce Phantom; according to Carey’s publicist Cindi Berger, Cannon “was so nervous he went to the wrong department at the hospital.” Carey is apparently “done” with having children.

Nick, nervous or just dooley? LOL. Mariah, yeah ease off the kids and work on getting your pre-meltdown voice back PUH-LEASE!!

Oh it is also Lilly Allen's birthday, yes today amongst the other groundbreaking news...Lilly Allen turned 26!

Ain't No Way....

Tonight I updated my Glee life. Besides the new episode being complete crack-up material it gave me a "tear moment". I LOVE when this happens...a song that can just have me in such awe that it brings tears to my eyeballs, LOL. Well the song is by none other than the Queen of Soul herself, Aretha Franklin & the song (which I am ashamed to say I hadn't heard until now) is called "Ain't no way". I think both versions are beautiful and here I give you the original and the cover sung by Amber Riley who plays Mercedes on Glee! As I post these clips this evening I just leave you with a youtube comment I found under the Aretha clip that encapsulates just how I feel about this song right now:

HAPPY EASTER YA'LL!!

It's Good Sunday and today I had the previledge of cooking brunch for my beautiful parents and nieces Mizzle & Bizzle. I love them.

 ` mami's blueberry/nutmeg/vanilla pancake-cake topped with dark chocolate ganache and mixed berries :)

Just what was on the table thismorning?

`Egg & Bacon on crusty bread rolls

`Hot Cross Buns :)

`Croissants w/ Choc-hazelnut spread & Vanilla and nutmeg cream

` Dark Chocolate ganache pancake-cake

` Mocha or Chai Tea

So yes, we had brunch this morning and the star of brunch was the yummy Chai Tea! mmm ; so lovely on a cold morning. Along with the Chai tea I would like to give a big shout out to the reason for the season ..... JESUS !! :) Who da man? HE da man! LOL . props and many thanks go to the man upstairs!!

and I'm for real when I say this...

So this is my first official blog post :) How exciting right? There are so many other things I should be doing right now but somehow this and the newest episode of Boardwalk Empire take preference. Hmmm ; moving right along. My sister has been blogging for a while now and has inspired me to create my own lil place here in cyber space so I guess thanks and a shout out are in order for Le sister ;) Anywho, here's a little bit about me for that fabulously, random person who will somehow stumble across my blog:

My name is Theresa but I answer to many other names family, thoughout my life, have gifted me with. I was affectionately called Siki-Lou by my godfather/uncle/2nd dad who passed away last year. He is irreplaceable, the true measure of a man and left the world a little less bright when he passed on. (Just a lil name history)...

So, I'm currently studying my Bachelor of Ed. Early Childhood. I plan to save the world one beautiful child at a time. How idealistic of me right?! ... I say , WHY NOT? :p I looooooooooooooove music in an epic way, seriously live by it. It’s as essential as water & showering & facebook & shoes that actually fit my feet! (Those who know me-know my struggle) LOL. I proudly belong to a cracked, hilariously loving, wonderful family who have moulded me into, well, ME! J *cue the tear drop*
 Taking photos is my passion (kidding, just love a good ol’ cliche’) but seriously I am quite fond of getting behind the camera and getting a cool shot here and there. I love to look good, who doesn’t? If you just answered “me”...you’re lieing! :p I, like my sister, who doubles as my best bud, love all things fashion, makeup, styling and things just generally cool related so WATCH THIS SPACE and you’ll soon get a good dose of each J
