Aussie Curves: Black and white!

YAY! I'm finally back with a post! Hello AC black and white week! I love when I unintentionally wear something that I can use for a AC post because then I kinda have no excuse to not get it done. So this is me getting it done!

It was Birthday on Thursday (yay!) which was a perfect reason to go for breakfast at the new cafe in town that everyone's been raving about called The Wooden Door. We were so glad we did because it's a beautiful, organic space and the food...oh yes that was SO YUM! After breakfast we headed to church. Needless to say, it was a beautiful morning.

What I wore:
  • Blazer- thrifted $6. LOVE this blazer, so comfy and shapes so nicely!
  • Top- Supre $2 (Campbelltown Factory outlet super store)
  • Skirt- Kmart $15 this season
  • Wedges- Target (last season)
  • Sunnies- thrifted Gold Coast Salvos $5
  • Clutch- gifted from my beautiful friend Anne, THANKS sis!
  • Earrings- Gifted from my sissy Mele
  • Lips- Velour Lips gloss to matte from Priceline

While we're on the black and white topic, how GORGEOUS does my niece look in her B&W threads for her year 10 formal. Black and white for me = classic style and beauty. So sad I missed my baby girl's formal. She & all my nieces and nephews make up all the pieces of my heart. This beautiful babe of mine came into my life when I was just 10 years old and we've looked after her and loved her every minute since so yes, it was sad for us to miss a special milestone in her life but she just shines with beauty. Maisy Moo, I love you :)

I must also send out a HUGE Happy Birthday to my beauty friend/sister/Aussie Curves babe Anne!!! LOVE YOU BOO! Here's a quick snap from last night's lil celebrations for our birthdays! Coincidentally, I am also in black and white! LOL. love it!

December 17, 2012...

What a day. The day close family & friends watched  two halves become whole in one of the most beauuuuutiful wedding ceremonies I have had the honor to attend. Rhianon is one of my dearest friends I went to College/Uni with and also holidayed in the States with (Chicago and New York 2011). She's a stunning South African beauty and it shows in the few measly pics I managed to snap on my little point & shoot camera throughout the  ceremony and reception. I apologise for the picture quality but hey sometimes the memories are all you need right? lol. hmmm, yeah I'll keep trying to convince myself of that!

Anywho, sister & I along with my main Jenny met up with Miss Magenta for wedding times in a small Central Coast town called Cessnok. It was a mini reunion for us buzzed by wedding excitement! So many things to catch up on in just a few short hours so we were "blah, blah, blahing" non-stop! The wedding was held at a beautiful winery overlooking vineyards and a sea of lush green property and was small and incredibly intimate. Looking around at the few selected guests there, I felt super special to be included in such a magical afternoon/night.

Beautiful flower girls dressed in crochet tops and bursting tutus :) The crochet headband in her hair was also wrapped around the invitations but in a different colour.

A special mention to my Miss Magenta up the back there & in her DIY flower headband. Its so frikkin cool!

The first dance to an acoustic version of At Last made famous by none other than the one Etta James. A perfect choice if you ask me!

Lashes- BYS $10, Gloss
Lips- BYS (Risky Business) $3, Gloss

I only managed to get a decent outfit shot on the sister's iphone so when I get my hands on that I'll be sharing that too. I based my look on this boldness of this uhh-mazing dress I found in a Salvo's in Auburn, Syd. I've had it for over a year and had planned to wear it to the Celine Dion concert in Vegas but yeah...WAY to hot for that. Finally I was able to show it off to the world! But yeah more on that later. I just kept my face quite clean and light with just some lashes, a light dusting of bronzer, blush and finishing off the look with a lick of my new lipstick! The new nude range by BYS is lovely! If you've come across it, please tell me what you think ;)

I hope wherever you are your start to 2013 has been super fab so far!

Aussie Curves: Orange!

Sunday, sunshine and a birthday breakfast date with the ladies...perfect reason to bust out some orange for Aussie Curves! Introducing our beautiful friends, sisters Anne, Josie & Mauana. Anne and my sister Mele went to College together and now teach at the same school. It was Anne and Josie's birthdays this and last week and mine the week before that so we finally got the chance to get together for a little celebratory feed.
The food was yummy and the conversation was even yummier! Lots of giggles were had! I've said this before I'm sure but there is nothing better than good food teamed with good company...a winning combination.

What I wore:

Purple blazer, $6 Salvos/Orange sheer tunic, Big W $25 last season/ Tube skirt, $5 Kmart/Cuff flats, Big W, $23 three seasons back

Earrings $2, MS Opshop/ Wooden carved ring, $12 Caribbean Markets Melbourne/Shades, gifted from a friend/Handbag, $2 Vinnies :)

L-R: Mauana, Josie, Anne & Mele

Are you an orange fan? I love citrus tones and colours, especially in Spring and Summer! I love this sheer top of mine because of its detailing around the neck line and the length. I loooove long flowy tops as it hides my probplem areas best, haha. My own personal magic trick lol. ;)

I can't wait to check out my fellow Aussie Curves lovelies with their take on "OR-ange" as our fellow Americans would say...haha.

OOTD: African Print in Brooklyn:)

It was a Sunday. Sister and Ruth & I had a date with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir (uh-huh, uh-huh...so JEFFIN' cool!!). The weather in NYC this summer was so BEAUTIFULLY hawwwwwt so on this day, because we would be riding the Subway and walking a lot I decided to keep my outfit simple.
I thrifted this super-cool dress for $3 if memory serves me correctly. I bought it earlier this year while shopping with my sister...I think she found it and handed it to me (YAY) :) I LOVE this dress because the cut is so feminine and when I wear it, it makes me feel like a lady! LOL. Also the sleeves are a major plus for me coz they hide a problem area for me...my upper arms, haha! So yes, this was the perfect option for me because it was a simple statement piece & made of cool, breathable cotton.

This day was the epitome of greatness for me. Points of amazingness are as follows:
  • Church service at the Brooklyn Tabernacle and hearing the choir...felt a little bit closer to God :)
  • Randomly stumbling upon Kat'z Deli ( a dream destination of my sister's for like for-evuhh)
  • Eating Kat'z deli Pastrami, Brisket and Rueben sandwiches...again, felt a little bit closer to God, haha
  • Sitting in the sun at the local basket ball court watching the world & especially the ballers go by
  • Checking yet another thing off the bucket list!
I love winning days with my sistas. The highlight reels of "my life's moments of greatness" are growing.

Continuing the theme of comfort I wore a pair of my fave shoes: my white All-Stars.

another feature of this dress I love...POCKETS! :)

there was no way to eat this pretty...go hard or go home, haha :)
